Dreams, you hear the word and you think of beautiful, magical things. Or a huge goal that is out of your reach. And they can be both of those at once. But they can also be surreal and weird. Or a horrifying nightmare.

I chose to represent Dreams more in the sim I visited this week then anything else. Though the pose symbolizes reaching FOR your dreams. As Mary Poppins on Broadway says..
Anything can happen if you let it, If you reach for the stars all you get are the stars, but we've found a whole new spin if you reach for the heavens You get the stars thrown in

This weeks sim is a surreal dreamlike build by the uber talented Cica Ghost called Beginners. There's not much to it, but it holds some of her signature build quirks, Like animated textures on objects. The main features are several grumpy looking giants observing the scene, and a train of wooden buildings being pulled by giant slugs. OH and there is a lil floating platform that can take you about the sim. It was full of visitors when I was at the sim.

All my photos of the build are at this link.

Pink...pink PPAAANNKKKK Pink! Pink is my favorite color. Just nearly every shade of it save pepto bismal pink. That one can go away. It just makes me so happy to wear pink. So I put on my newest pink gown and found a stunning sim to explore.

The sim is called Telrunya - Forest of Dreams and it is so beautiful and magical. I got so many ideas for my own land from it. It's another of those sims that seems ripped from my mind. And reminds me a lot of Chakryn Forest. All it needs is some quests to be perfect!

You can see all my photos of it at this link here.

It's a thick lush magical forest full of ruins and little nooks. Wandering paths, pools, magical sparkles and a river way you can row a boat along.

They do allow rezzing of items for photos if you join the group, but nearly all the prims are in use so you can't rez anything super prim heavy, and the sim is so stunning you really shouldn't need to.

The sim wind light is permanently midnight, and there is a prim surrounding the sim to give it a very starry sky and full moon. So it's tricky to navigate in the forest at times. SO I'm not sure if I FOUND everything but I did go to all the places on the teleport system they have set up.

I very much recommend a visit, it would make a lovely romantic date to go on!

I love this outfit by Orange*Pekoe for Hogwarts roleplay or photos, but I can't FIND it anymore in the store, So in the tribute photo Chess has on a different outfit by the same designer. A lot of the lovely outfits she used to sell are gone from the shop. I have a gorgeous adult robe by her that's so lush. I wonder why she stopped selling them.

All of my photos of Mischief Managed can be seen at this link.

Now onto this sim. HOLY COW THIS SIM!!! I went on the open day "Muggle Monday" when they let none roleplayers in. They ask you to wear an OOC indicator which I did except for the above photo and the tribute one. To join the roleplay they have an extensive application and when you see the system they use its understandable why. It takes place 20 years after the events of the books, and is in its third year on the grid, putting the rp currently in the year 2023. The RP system for the classes is intriguing and the build is just stunning. I'm highly tempted to make an alt to have a go at the rp, as its strictly a cannon rp so no furs or fairies in the rp. Just visiting on Mondays!

The sim itself is just so amazing and as close to movie accurate as you can get in SL. I was constantly blown away by how detailed the build was. You'll start in Hogsmede for the landing point, it's an ooc area where you can go at any point of the week. It has some shops and a few IC areas but as long as you don't interrupt the RP you're fine.

There's two ways to get into castle, one is in the train station and the other is taking a walk down a path to a gate. The sim uses teleports and skyboxes extensively throughout the build, which is explained here.. It's a very clever system I have seen used on another Hogwart's build, but not as well as it is used here.

It is very, VERY easy to get lost in the castle. I got turned around quite a number of times. And I'm still not sure I found all the open to the public areas, like class rooms and offices. I did find the entrances to three of the four house areas. But I never found a headmasters office. And I couldn't get into the dorms. Not sure if I just wasn't clever enough of if the hud used for the rp only lets you in if you're marked as in that house.

The grounds about the castle are also well done. There's Hagrids hut and the dark forest. I was blocked from going into the forest. Again not sure if that's normal for everyone or just due to not being a part of the RP.

All the rooms I did find and go into looked almost exactly how you'd picture them. The Great Hall was just huge and even had the snow in the ceiling. Also the house points on one side. Currently Ravenclaw is in the lead with Hufflepuff a close second.

Paintings are all over though only a few talk and none move. That's animation that would take up some script time!

I believe the classrooms I found where, History of magic, Charms, DOD *whose skybox gave me issues so I dont have a photo of it*, astronomy, and a few others. My favorite was the divinations room, it was just beautiful with the crystals about! And the library is just...wow. SO big!

I do highly recommend heading over for a look around some Monday. It opens sometime around 8ish SL time, not RIGHT at the stroke of midnight on Sunday night. Someone has to be awake to open it up to the Muggles!

Now to go back to contemplating that Alt..

Always...

So, yes, I'm a bit of a Potterhead, and Alan Rickman's sudden death to cancer last week got me. Especially so soon after we lost Bowie, also at 69 and also to cancer.

I had been struggling on a way to pay tribute to him as I did to Bowie, but couldn't find the right idea. Then I saw this pose from "Ehe Pose Shop" on another blog and it clicked, and I grabbed Turlock's Girlfriend Chess to join me as she's an even bigger Potterhead then I am.

I'm a Hufflepuff and she's a Ravenclaw for the record, the guys are both Slytherin.

I had to wait till "Muggle Mondays" to take this shot at the Mischief Managed RP sims. But it was worth the wait.

And now I'm going to go explore this gorgeous build while I can...Full credits on that post

So, I got off by a day in my head due to Adar getting an extra day off from work. I would have sworn up and down to you that it was Tuesday and not Wednesday. Which is why this is a few hours after Wednesday is over. Oops! Sorry!

So here we go, Glitter.

I love glitter, I love how it sparkles and just is so magical. And I have seen first hand in my professional life, how a small child can light up at the thought of getting a wee bit of magical glitter from a fairy. Some people hate it with a passion but to me, its a small bit of wonder that I can own.

But its hard to really represent glitter in Secondlife. I tried to do so with a sparkly glittery dress, jewelry and a pose with glitter dust. I do kinda wish the pose showed off the top of my arms and not the underside as the jewelry has these stunning flowers on the top. And this gown is to die for, it came in several other colors but I went for the purple.

My chosen sim this time is a LEA sim. It's a quirky and whimsical build with a chess theme, But the artist who designed it wants you to make your own stories about it.

Personally my favorite areas are the umbrella trees, the chandelier tree, the book park and the water iris's with the goldfish jars.

You can see all my photos of the sim at this link here

As the world falls down..

Like many others today, I'm feeling affected by the sudden unexpected death of a greatly talented man. And so soon after our shared birthday. Yes, January 8th is both mine and Bowie's birthday, also Elvis and Shirley Bassey to name a few others.

David Bowie's biggest influence on me came in the form of the film Labyrinth. Such a beautifully magical film. So in tribute and in honor of the one and only Goblin King I set up some recreations of two scenes from the film with Me as Sarah and Adar as Jareth.

So this year, instead of tearing my hair out trying to find sims to explore to match the theme, I'm just going with the pose and outfit. And the sim will be a sim that inspires me to explore it, instead of feeling forced to explore it to match the theme. Now some sims will match the theme, but if I can't match them I'm not going to stress it.

How does this to me represent birthdays? I feel on your birthday its the one day you should wear clothing you love, in your favorite color and I love pink and pretty clothing. And balloons are just a birthday thing to me! They are fun and innocent.

Oh and why Birthday for the first theme? My RL birthday is Friday!

Now onto this sim, called Kaimela Mista, it's actually a build on a 1/4 of a sim. But they managed to pack a lot of gorgeousness into that quarter of a sim!

You'll arrive on a beach before some cliffs, if you look and click around you'll find a hidden cave, then turn around and walk along the beach to get to the path up to the top of the cliff. I loved the campfire on the beach as its interactive and quite neat.

Up the cliff brings you to a meadow and some magical ruins. I LOVED this effect! And I liked how they randomly stuck small crystals into some of the trees. There is also another hidden area, and a pavilion of games to play if you bring some friends. Going back down the cliff you find a small inlet, with a boat, a tree tunnel going to a dance pavilion and a log bridge to a quite romantic area.

The land owners have asked that you stay out of the tower on the ground, and have put up ban lines to keep people out. But you can go into the tower int he air and it is WORTH the flight up to it. There is no teleport so yes you have to fly. they have filled each floor just magically.

I do highly recommend a visit to this lovely build. I of course took a lot more photos and you can see those all at this link here.

New years clean ups

First, let me clean out my save photo folder and post links to stuff I did and never took photos of!

First up, an temporary sim installment called if I recall correctly, A Touch of Red, I don't remember who created it. But I do remember it was about the Phantom of the Opera. And I enjoyed it immensity. I loved the stylized art and the incorporation of letters with lyrics from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical scattered about. http://www.softpaw.org/LJimages/SL/Touchred/index.html

Next we have a bunch of random photos from around Steelhead before it disappeared. Among the random nonsense and dance shots are shots of the last dance in the teahouse, what my Nevermore plot used to look like, and the very last dance in Steelhead.

http://www.softpaw.org/LJimages/SL/steellast/index.html

And lastly, some photos I took while at Pandora's Box of Dreams when it was still the Del Mar dream. I was there for contest photos but ran into a large turtle that comes up, lays eggs then leaves and the eggs hatch, and then baby turtles head into the ocean! I got the whole sequence captured

http://www.softpaw.org/LJimages/SL/turtle/index.html

And now that those are out of the way. Time for future of this blog talk.

My plate is, considerably less full, this year. For reasons I don't want to talk about. So I am going to give the 52 themes a try again. Starting Tomorrow in fact! A theme a week posted on Wednesdays.

Starting with

Week 1 January 6th
Theme
Birthdays!

Some of the weeks will be repeated themes, on different weeks of course. And I will take new photos and go to new sims to give new interpretations of themes I did in the past. I've also changed around a few, removed a few and added others.

Other bloggers are welcomed to join in, but I'm really doing this more for me to keep me posting weekly. I do still have a flickr group for it though, which is moderated as some flickr bloggers just dump into all their groups and don't watch to make sure its one that fits the group.

Also due to my new free time I hope to be more involved in Relay this year. I really hope to be on the blogger list for Fantasy Faire again. I SO love doing that.

And that's all my updates from 2015 and plans for 2016.
