There'll be scary ghost stories.......

Christmas Countdown December 12th

There was no count down photo on the 11 as I had to attend the funeral for a dear friend who died very unexpectedly and suddenly .

That friend was a story teller who at Haunted events would dress as Bellatrix Lestrange and tell ghost stories by the fire.

Ghost stories are a part of Christmas, just look at A Christmas Carol

And so todays Countdown photo is in her honor.

A suitcase full of Hope..

A suitcase full of Hope..

Relay is, once again,, over for the year.

This year seemed a, much calmer year, then in the past but still a grand one. Steelhead is back with its own team. That felt good and right, though we will have to work on getting people on during relay weekend next year to camp sit. It was empty a lot due to not a whole lot of us on the track. I plan to be at what ever camp we have a lot next year though. This year I managed TWENTY laps. Mostly due to the smaller amount of sims then in past years. The track was the smallest it's been since 2006, when it was 4,065. This year it was 6,758 meters, last year it was 9,000. It hasn't dipped below 8000 meters since 2006. So, yeah that helped me with a record laps. But it was still also a lot of work and next year, I'm gonna take it easy. I'll have earned all three lap awards so, yeah. No need to try to break any personal records. Camp sit, explore the builds DURING the relay. take more shots of the other teams. It'll be fun!

We had a total of 996 avatars come to the sims, and the current US total is $207,311 since March! Sim's behaved pretty well, not as good as last year but much much better then in past. Some great builds. I'll share some photos from before, during and after, after the flood party tomorrow. Thanks to a media day I KNOW I got a photo of at least the front of every camp sight before the weekend started. Some, per usual, took theirs down right at the end so no extra exploring them.

Had some STUNNING builds though, it will be a shame they will be leaving. You have two days left to go walk and look at all the camps still about.. GO GO GO!! Start here at the Steelhead camp!

For Kali

Just as Fantasy Faire ended this past April, We lost a bright light, A cancer warrior to pancreatic cancer. I've known Kai for years, before I got on SL and she's been so brave and such an inspiration to everyone. She is loved and is missed.

For Kali

Thinking of her now, as the Luminary ceremony is held. And all the others that I know have been lost to this horrible disease, But mostly Kali. Fly high on those Fairy wings my friend, you earned them.

So...yeah..its no secret Beauty and the Beast if my favorite movie.

And I have been waiting 20 or so years for a live action version of it. Ever since the Broadway Musical came out.

And this Thursday, Adar and I will get to make that dream come true when we go see the stunning, amazing, gorgeous looking live action version!

So I decided this week to do a few tribute photos, starting with this one! Enjoy!

And I am being oohh so good and not listening to the soundtrack before hand! A digital version of it is sitting on my hard drive unlistened to.

OH and there will be an update to my perma credits page. I have at last upgraded to a mesh body, Slink Body and hands!

I am back..

I hope

Last year I went through some, hard times. Lotta crap, lost my post at OKRF, lost our house, had to move, had to stya with a friend for a month and half. It was bad. I was depressed. Only thing that kept me going was Roleplay on Mischeif managed a sim I found last year after Alan Rickman died. Made my first human avatar on a new account as student, then a few months later made yet ANOTHER account to play a Teacher as well. And now I am ooc sim staff!

But that place kept me from going totally into a bad place. The friends I have made there are many and I love it. I am forever grateful to it.

But I did fall back out of sim exploring while struggling to not get depressed. Other then Relay related events I did do one sim, even doing the Christmas shots was hard.. A totally amazing LEA sim telling the story of the Last Unicorn. and I utterly regret not blogging it when I went to it as it's gone now but so beautiful. It was very interactive as well. And the scripting for some of the areas was amazing. I especially love how they did the midnight carnival,a ghostly fade over of each animal appeared showing what Mummy Fortuna made people see. Really was worth it. I hope the artist does another story this year. I will so go! The main reason I made sure to go to this sim is the Last Unicorn is a speical book to me. It is one of those ones that shaped my childhood, and a few years ago I had the privilege of meeting and getting to spend a morning chatting with its author Peter Beagle in the living room of a friends house.

Here's a few teaser shots. I'll toss some more on my flicker and you can see all my photos at the link above

A time to Remember

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to write on this post right now. And all I can think of is a friend from Mischief Managed, that became close fast, who lost their Dad in May of this year to cancer. It happened suddenly as well, diagnosed and then passed in a week. It was so hard on them. My heart aches for them and their loss so much.

And then I turn to thoughts of two wonderful ladies I know through Renaissance faires. Both of them battling Breast Cancer, Both doing amazing with their fights. Survivor hearts! I would expect nothing less from them.

And then I turn to thoughts of yet another friend who is still fighting her two year battle with pancreatic cancer. She is so strong and amazing.

And so, I chose to write down about them.

And honor them all.

Always...

So, yes, I'm a bit of a Potterhead, and Alan Rickman's sudden death to cancer last week got me. Especially so soon after we lost Bowie, also at 69 and also to cancer.

I had been struggling on a way to pay tribute to him as I did to Bowie, but couldn't find the right idea. Then I saw this pose from "Ehe Pose Shop" on another blog and it clicked, and I grabbed Turlock's Girlfriend Chess to join me as she's an even bigger Potterhead then I am.

I'm a Hufflepuff and she's a Ravenclaw for the record, the guys are both Slytherin.

I had to wait till "Muggle Mondays" to take this shot at the Mischief Managed RP sims. But it was worth the wait.

And now I'm going to go explore this gorgeous build while I can...Full credits on that post

As the world falls down..

Like many others today, I'm feeling affected by the sudden unexpected death of a greatly talented man. And so soon after our shared birthday. Yes, January 8th is both mine and Bowie's birthday, also Elvis and Shirley Bassey to name a few others.

David Bowie's biggest influence on me came in the form of the film Labyrinth. Such a beautifully magical film. So in tribute and in honor of the one and only Goblin King I set up some recreations of two scenes from the film with Me as Sarah and Adar as Jareth.
