Salmon

The Lapis Lazuli crayon was found in the 1994 specialty crayon box Gem Tones. As a stone Lapis is a fantastic shade of blue mottled with bits of calcite and pyrite. It has its most famous usage in Egyptian jewelry and statues so I wanted to go with an Egyptian theme for the shoot. Which meant that most of the shade is in the jewelry I have on and not the outfit itself.

Finding the sim took me FORREEVVERRR, I avoided the one I ended up with for a while as its description in the destination guide made it sound more like a random chat location rather then a beautifully done Rp sim. Then when I got there I found out it is not one but FOUR sims so, it took way longer then I thought to explore it. And I am sure I missed stuff.

Lapis Lazuli

OH LOOK! It's on time..ish. I had to redo my Secondlife settings due to a certain kitten playing on my keyboard and changing things, THEN I screwed up and overwrote my settings file from Firestorm and had to fetch them from Adar's computer. Oopsy.

Sunset Pearl is from the 1997 Pearl Brite set, and has a pearlesent sheen to it in crayon form.

I hate trying to find Yellows in my inventory, and this one was tricky. Not sure how well I matched it, but I did my best. I paired it with a fun pair of pants from the fabulous Taste the rainbow Hunt. You can do this hunt in an hour, Less even! But everything you get is fantastic!

The sim is another lovely temporary build by Cica Ghost. Like the Sketch sim and Rust it has many of her signature line art items. Quite a lovely place to explore for a while.

Sunset Pearl

This post is so extremely late for the following reasons; I have been sick, the internet has been a brat, stupidly hiding from someone on SL, SL kept crashing as I need a new graphics card, and I have a minor distraction.

I am still not feeling fully well but better then I have been.

We're getting a new DSL modem to replace our 8+ year old one and that should help our internet issues a TON. It should be here on Thursday according to the phone company.

I put on my big girl undies and will deal with the person when/if I see them again.

I have no idea when I will be able to afford a new card and some ram wouldn't hurt either.

The distraction name is Batgirl, she's 2 months old or abut that brown/black kitten. She showed up on our front porch two weeks ago wailing her little head off. Then when I opened the door to give her some food, waltz right inside like it was home and hasn't left yet. She's become buds with my now second youngest cat Isis. And has throughly claimed me as her own. You can see photos of the cutie kitty here. Right now she's passed out asleep on top of my basket I take to ren faires. But one of her favorite spots is sleeping on my chest which make sit hard to do stuff on the computers. She also refuses to play with toys that are not ON my desk.


I really should have just taken a single photo and posted that a LOT earlier, but I wanted to do this sim darn it! So, you get it late. There was no Disney post this week so I am not behind on that.


ANYWAY


This weeks crayon got its name in 1990 as part of the florescent colors, though the color has been around since 1972 as Hot Magenta FLUORESCENT, all the Hot/Ultra ***** FLUORESCENT crayons got new names in 1990.


The sim and the outfit are tied together, even though the outfit is not QUITE the right culture as the sim. The sim is a second life recreation of the temples Borobudur and Prambanan, which are near Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I found the sim via the destination guide.. The build is extremely impressive. Secondlife advance in building prims have allowed a recreation that before would have been out of prim reach to be done beautifully.

The sim has two levels, one is the ruins and another is a modern town you get to via a teleport in the info booth near the landing point. I ALMOST missed it as I didn't go to the info booth! You can see it and all the rest of my photos at this link

Rapunzel is my second favorite Disney Princess so it took me FOREVER to get the look I wanted for this week. Which is why I am just now posting it. I went through so many changes of mind on the outfit. And then I pulled up the cave house I had down to put down my tower as it was NEEDED for this look!

I finely settled on a skirt and top combo from Nomine, it gave the best look that said Rapunzel to me of everything I tried. Hair was a no brainer, something long, and I had the crown already. I did pick up the sun pendant and Pascal shoulder pet as well. And as I said I already had the tower, and the lanterns are always down on my plot!

Oh and for a change, because the shot was too gorgeous..here is a pulled back version taken on Adar's computer..and trust me, you want to see it bigger!

Razzle Dazzle Rose

My Internet let me get on and get the sim photos WOOHOO!! Ugh, when it DID get back up to speed, we kept loosing it as they repaired the boxes. Seemed like every time I THOUGHT it was done and got back on Secondlife we lost it again!

Onto the Crayons!

In 1992 - 93 Crayola had a crayon naming contest for 16 new colors. In 93 the winners where announced, purple mountain’s majesty was one of the colors and was named by an 89 year old woman named Mildred Sampson. I went into more detail on this contest back in March for Macaroni and Cheese


I knew this shade would be easy for me, and it was YAY, nice to show off this lovely Evie's outfit that I picked up at a Zodiac event, you can now get them in her shop though. The pose is from the Love Donna Flora event going on to help support Squinternet Larnia's medical bills. You can read more about it at the events blog. I've picked up a few poses and need to go over and pick up some of the lovely outfits I've seen blogged by others, or on the event's flickr page

This weeks sim I saw on one of my favorite Secondlife build blogs Honour's Post Menopausal View (of Second Life). And I discovered something while exploring it. I was having issues with items not rezzing in, the one usually solved by right clicking, or wire frame, or a myriad of other tricks to make the prims appear. NONE of which was working! AND I kept crashing, in part due to internet issues but also just graphics card issues. Turning off advanced lighting models made the missing prims appear and stopped my none internet related crashing. So I went about taking photos after doing that. Then I went back to fix up the photos to go into the album and noticed that AFTER I turned that off the ground in the build had lost the rainbow effect. Turning Advance lighting models back on made them appear! So I had to go back and retake some photos. The rainbows came from the crystals scattered about. A totally cool effect I would have NEVER known about with out Advanced lighting models!

But UGH I need a new graphics card SO badly.

Anyway, Time flies is a simple quarter sim build, If it hadn't been for my internet and computer issues It would not have taken long to explore at all. And once I learned about the reflections effect I SO loved it There is a hidden spot under the cracked glass in the middle of the build so make sure to walk on that!

Internet issues

Our entire phone/internet service went out yesterday due to falling apart junction boxes. Which ment I didn't get to a sim yet for the crayon post.

We have it back now but our internet is running so slow I can barely use normal web pages let alone Secondlife. They are replacing the boxes tomorrow. I will post the crayon for this week after I get a decent speed of internet. Right now it is LESS then 1 MBPS speed on the speed test page

Purple Mountain's Majesty

So, I may have gotten behind on my days as I thought all day yesterday was Tuesday o.O not sure HOW and I was running around helping out some freinds so...yes, thats why this post is late. Sorry!


This weeks color is from the 1997 Pearl Brite speicalaty set. Pretty much if the color ends in "pearl" its from this set! I wish I had some of them they sound lovely, with a nice pearlesent sheen.


Now for the sim! I covered Mysterious Wave a while ago, but the sim has been redcorated so I went again. Now it has a lovely childhood theme. As what I call "Art water sims" its sparcely but beautifly decorated. The only skybox I found was a store so if there are more I missed them.

I shall try to get around to blogging about Relay the other weekend and showing off the build photos after I do this weeks Disneybound post.

Disneybound Challenge Week Nineteen - Aurora

I had NO idea where I was going to go with this one at first. The outfit we where to use is the ball gown that the fairies change from pink to blue. Now as much as I love pink, my FAVORITE version of it is when it is half pink and half blue splattered. It just looks AWESOME, and I wanted to show that. But with out creating something myself, which I didn't feel like doing. I wasn't sure how to show that.

Then it hit me to dress in pajamas as well.. SLEEPING BEAUTY, and have a pink top and blue bottoms!

Then I dug out my acorn bed, and randomly decided to be snuggling this years Relay for Life Linden bare in the photo. So here is my Aurora! All snuggly asleep!

I am completely surprised with how easily and quickly this look came together. Now I HAVE several different Alice outfits, but i had to avoid those. So I went digging into my skirts, found this one, then the top and there you go. Thank goodness for old Alice hunts so I knew where to go for the perfect pose as well!
