A gothic Victorian styled city along the coast. With cobblestone streets and iron street lamps illuminating the foggy roads with glowing magical orbs. Where some cities flourish by technology, innovation and science alone Sialdor instead makes the same strides but with magic at the core of everything.

As society grew and flourished across the land pockets sprung up to form the cities and civilizations that most know today. As is often the case however in the careful castes of society not all fit the mold, or seek to expand beyond what the majority rules. Those souls either fall by the wayside or set off to forge their own path. In the ages past some of those left their homes and set out in search of a place that would not stifle their knowledge or the pursuit of it.

Candria had grown rapidly and while the monarchy, closely tied with the church, did not forbid magic use it frowned heavily on things it deemed questionable. Magic and even to a degree science could not surpass the church or its teachings. An era of zealous and fervent oppression then came, with any seeking to do more than parlor tricks and protective or healing magics facing severe scrutiny or even imprisonment. During this time knowledge of the arts of aetherial weaving were lost and those not wishing to face punishment for preserving what they still had found no course other than to leave. Off they went to carve their own home into the land where knowledge and science held more power than religious zealotry and fanciful beliefs of deities on high.

The path was not easy and yet the wanderers endured, finally coming to the shores of one of the great oceans. The bay curved around a curious island while the mainland surrounding was fertile and plentiful. It seemed as if they had been blessed and the first shelters were set down as magicked golems of stone and crystal raised to life. These golems would serve as the farmers, the guards and the builders until their society would grow and even after. Life was not easy at first but they stood by. Rumors of course led others to flee the zealotry and seek out their growing city and even others from across the continent. As Sialdor grew and sprawled across the land, ships soon came to her docks, bringing goods, livestock and produce. Trading for magical artifacts and items grew and it became clear that this was the hub of magic in the land. That curious island its’ centerpiece of mystery and intrigue.

Others came to the city over the years for a plethora of reasons. Family, a chance at a better life outside the strict confines of some other governments, the study of knowledge unfettered. Knowledge of such a nature however attracts those of a sometimes unscrupulous nature. The Order of Ebonfall, founded by those who first came to the land, sought to keep the more dangerous magics within its own ranks. For study as much as to protect them. While physical walls protected the city from threats, the magical walls protected the knowledge within that curious island’s corridors and classrooms. Those who came to steal such secrets found themselves never leaving, trapped within walls of magic and stone as the mists rolled in across the waters.

I think thats one of the longest region descriptions from the creators Ive seen! But you can tell by walking around the build that it was meant to have a deep and rich backstory. Practically its own RP area! The winding Gothic streets, sparkling trees, soaring Flying buttresses and even the whimsical self moving brooms all speak to that. But what MOST speaks to it are the genie like robot sentinels that you see about doing various jobs.

The eep for the build made for some super dramatic photos and I had a lot of fun taking them.

All of my photos of the sim can be seen at this link here
